Airfare is separate: it is set by the airline, depends on the route and the weight of the shipment, and is billed to you at cost with no mark-up. You receive one itemized written price covering everything before you authorize anything.
Most shipments depart within three to seven days of the first call, normally from Miami International (MIA). The flight is rarely the constraint. What sets the timeline is how quickly the Florida county issues the death certificate and how quickly the consulate legalizes the file, so we start both on the first call.
The standard file is a certified death certificate, a burial transit permit, an embalming certificate, a certificate of non-contagious disease, a casket contents affidavit and a consular mortuary certificate legalized by the consulate. Documents are prepared in Spanish. We confirm the current requirements with the consulate for your specific shipment rather than relying on a stored list.
No. Authorizations are signed electronically and everything can be arranged by telephone and email. Many of the families we serve for Guatemala are calling from Guatemala itself, or from another US state, and never travel to Florida at all.
