Most shipments depart within three to seven days of the first call, normally from Miami International (MIA). The flight is rarely the constraint. What sets the timeline is how quickly the Florida county issues the death certificate and how quickly the consulate legalizes the file, so we start both on the first call.
The standard file is a certified death certificate, a burial transit permit, an embalming certificate, a certificate of non-contagious disease, a casket contents affidavit and a consular mortuary certificate legalized by the consulate. No. Authorizations are signed electronically and everything can be arranged by telephone and email. Many of the families we serve for India are calling from India itself, or from another US state, and never travel to Florida at all.
